In principle on the JabRef homepage there exists a version 0.9 of that plugin, but I was unable to locate and download it, hence I reused version 0.7.2 that worked with LibreOffice 3.x and actually succeeded with this one. The plugin seems to be quite old and written for OpenOffice, but it actually works for LibreOffice as well. Maybe now on Mavericks it is clear that all applications run in 64-bit mode.īut we need a plugin to connect to LibreOffice. run a 32-bit LibreOffice with a 64-bit JabRef on Mountain Lion, but with Mavericks I did not even get an issue about this. However, in previous attempts I had the impression that it does not matter whether I use the app or the jar version, but what mattered was that both JabRef and LibreOffice must be either 32-bit or 64-bit applications.
I actually use JabRef 2.9.2 as a MacOS app (not the jar version). Thus, my LibreOffice seems to be ready for a connection. In my case, one line is shown sayingĪnd the round checkbox is checked. I did this on a Mac running Mavericks, but the information may also be helpful for Linux users. Thus, here I report on how I succeeded with JabRef 2.9 and LibreOffice 4.3.2.2 to allow me to send literature entries from JabRef to LibreOffice. It appears that some downloads and information are not available (anymore) or I misunderstand things.
JabRef stores the information in the BibTeX format and hence is easily accessible to LaTeX, but I tend to struggle with the connection between JabRef and LibreOffice. Recently I have been using Papers ( ) together with MS Words and Pages! Although I still use MS Word, I have moved away from MS Powerpoint. I have yet to see anyone who have used Apple Pages to write long papers. While it is possible to convert pages document to MS word, be aware that the format (headings, style, in-text citation)) is LIKELY to change. you can also browse previous versions using the built-in function also known as 'versions' Endnote citation is also built in. Apple pages does not require on to save the document as it is done automatically and stored in iCloud.
Some features are not exactly easy to find or use. Apple Pages, on the other hand, is more stable than Word, however, it also lack many features. It is not stable, and constantly i find myself click the command + S to make sure it is SAVED. While the current version is much better than the previous, it is still flawed in some ways.
