A final vote count is expected by noon of Saturday.įlorida Republican Governor Rick Scott filed a lawsuit on Thursday evening, requesting for an investigation into the ongoing ballot counts that have tightened his lead in the state’s Senate race against incumbent Democrat Senator Bill Nelson. WPTV News of West Palm Beach, FL, indicated that there may be three recounts for Florida midterm election: Florida Senator, Florida Governor, and Florida Agriculture Commissioner positions. Sun Sentinel also reported that Florida Agriculture Commissioner candidates: Nikki Fried of Fort Lauderdale (50.02%) ahead of Matt Caldwell (49.98%) by 0.04% (also needing hand recount). It is currently 0.2% (fewer than 22,000 vote difference), according to NBC News. The tight Florida Senate race was too close to call on Tuesday night, but as more votes were processed, Republican Rick Scott’s lead fell below 0.5%, which could trigger an automatic machine recount and trigger hand recount if below 0.25%. Three days after the midterm election polls closed, Florida and Georgia election results are under scrutiny.
